The Best Cheesy Bread

The key to this cheesy bread is making a quick garlic-herb butter to toast the bread before piling on the cheese and sticking it under the broiler. That last step is what gets the cheese all bubbly and golden-brown. It comes together in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 large ciabatta loaf
  • 2 sticks salted butter 1 cup
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons finely minced fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh cracked pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Melt butter with garlic, parsley, oregano, and pepper in saucepan over low heat.
  • Slice ciabatta lengthwise and place on baking sheet.
  • Brush both cut sides with garlic butter mixture.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes until top feels firm.
  • Switch oven to broil.
  • Cover bread with provolone and Parmesan cheeses.
  • Broil 2-4 minutes until cheese melts and browns slightly.
  • Cool 1 minute before slicing and serving.

Notes

Watch carefully during broiling to prevent burning.
